Technical Writer

Job Summary

Technical Writer will develop documentation for administrators and developers, as well as technical specifications.

This position is also responsible for creating documents for the engineers and enterprise customers who will implement current and future releases of SNAPin’s SelfService software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliverables include, but are not limited to: technical references and API descriptions, installation and implementation guides, architecture diagrams and flowcharts, development tool guides, FAQs, and release notes.
  • Create materials for an online developer community forum to be used in conjunction with an SDK
  • Design and ensure consistent usage of documentation templates and style guides (print and online)
  • Analyze project requirements to determine types of publications needed
  • Develop and monitor documentation project plans and timelines
  • Work directly with SNAPin developers, program managers, and product managers to deliver timely and accurate content
  • Develop and/or edit technical whitepapers used for sales and implementation activities
  • Complete necessary production work for each release
  • Assist with the development of printed and online training materials as needed
  • Assist with the development of detailed software specifications as needed
  • Research and evaluate new documentation tools and methods; document and improve documentation processes
  • Define testing dependencies and schedules
  • Negotiate required testing artifacts required by internal and external parties
  • Ensure all testing documentation is complete and accurate
  • Translate external customer requirements into a test plan, test cases, validation plans
  • Estimate testing resources required to meet defined schedules
  • Provide clean handoff to SNAPin Support upon project completion

Required knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Ability to master multiple tools, meet deadlines and track/report progress on complex deliverables
  • Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate good relationships with the larger development organization
  • Previous coursework or experience with computer programming preferred
  • Previous experience in the telecommunications marketplace preferred

Education, Training and/or Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-8 years experience in technical writing, with 2+ years developing documentation for enterprise software
  • Undergraduate degree or relevant certification and experience required.
