Software Engineering Manager, Porting

Job Summary
SNAPin is looking for an experienced leader to manage engineers dedicated to handset porting activities. This team is tasked with making the company’s proprietary client technology available on a wide range of mobile phones. This team works very closely with OEM engineering teams, as well as with SNAPin’s Core Technology teams, to deliver SNAPin technology on both open OS and proprietary OS based handsets.
The ideal candidate will possess a high-level of technical competence and have significant experience managing sizable software development teams in fast-paced and challenging environments, reliably and predictable delivering each projects through the entire software development life cycle with a high degree of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, mentor, motivate and manage a talented team of software engineers using proven leadership and facilitation skills and applying detailed technical oversight to complex development projects.
- Recruit and hire high-quality employees, ensuring technical competence and cultural fit.
- Act as liaison between core client and server development engineering teams, quality assurance, business stakeholders, external partners, and implementation teams.
- Work in tandem with core engineering, quality assurance program managers, and product managers to drive schedules and delivery milestones.
Position Requirements:
- Proven software development management skills with an ability to keep development teams on track and tactfully hold them accountable.
- Significant experience leading enterprise software development teams through all phases of the software development life cycle.
- Hands-on ability to track schedules for all software projects to ensure timely delivery with adequate contingency planning and exceptional process management.
- Strong ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to analyze business and customer requirements.
- Demonstrable and significant previous experience with C/C++.
- Embedded software, in particular mobile handset-based software is a significant plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
- Excellent relationship-building and facilitation skills.
- Some domestic and international travel may be required.
Education, Training and/or Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience leading software development projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science is required.
- Advanced degree (MS / MBA) preferred.
